MarkGrab — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 20, 2026

What we collect

MarkGrab does not collect personal data. It runs 100% client-side: when you copy a selection, page, link, or image, the conversion to Markdown happens entirely in your browser and is never sent over the network. Your settings (LLM mode, strip links, YAML front-matter) are stored locally via Chrome's storage API and never leave your device.

Analytics

MarkGrab is instrumented to record anonymous, non-identifying product events (install, first activation) using an internal, privacy-first library. No analytics transport is currently connected — these events are not sent anywhere today.

Permissions

  • activeTab + scripting— inject the copy logic into the current tab only when you click the icon or use the keyboard shortcut. No background access to pages you haven't invoked.
  • clipboardWrite — write the converted Markdown to your clipboard.
  • storage — save your settings locally.
  • contextMenus — show the right-click menu entries (copy selection/page/link/ image).
  • offscreen— a hidden document used only to write to the clipboard reliably, regardless of a page's permissions policy.

No host_permissionsof any kind — MarkGrab cannot read or modify pages you haven't explicitly invoked it on.
